I took the car back to Ford as it was under warranty but they could find nothing wrong and suggested it might be dodgy fuel.

We took pictures of this engine in that car and it was exactly the same, to our engine, which must suggest it is a 1.6. However, i think ford should change the hand book as it is not very good showing an image of an engine which is supposedly the 1.6 and then putting an engine in the car which looks more like the 1.4.

Apologies if this has been covered in another part of the forum but most of the threads on power loss seem to be related to the diesel engines rather than petrol. The car in question is a 1.6 petrol 100bhp 2008 Focus. The car has roughly 73k miles on it. The issue I'm having is the car seems to to lack power randomly.

How many Mk1 1.6 petrol where made, now what percentage of those are on forums as "drinking/loosing/ burning oil" Did a Google Focus 1.6 petrol are they an engine that is known for drinking/ burning/using o. The results hardly back up your opinion Stef. I heard the 1.6 is a little bit more known to oil usage, check for oil spots in the engine bay.
